James opens with the most practical promise in the Bible. Need wisdom? Ask. He gives generously.

James 1:5 — 'If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.'
Two things to notice. The qualification is low: 'if any of you lacks wisdom.' That's everyone reading this, at some point.
And the giver is generous. 'Generously to all without reproach.' He doesn't roll his eyes when you ask. He doesn't lecture you for needing help. He just gives.
James adds in the next verse that you should ask in faith, without doubting — meaning don't ask while assuming he won't answer. Trust the invitation.
If there's a decision in front of you and you don't know what to do, this verse is direct. Stop spiraling. Ask. He gives wisdom to people who ask.
