'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'
It sounds like a brush-off — like God saying 'don't try to understand me.' It isn't. The context is an invitation. Two verses earlier: 'Seek the Lord while he may be found.'
Then comes the reminder of the gap. God's thinking is not a slightly better version of ours. It's categorically higher — the way the sky is over the ground.
That's actually good news. If God's wisdom were just human wisdom plus a little, he couldn't really save us. The fact that he sees what we can't is exactly what makes him trustworthy.
So when God's choices don't make sense to you, you haven't found a flaw in God. You've found the edge of your own understanding. The right response is to trust, not to demand he shrink down to fit.
