Paul knew this was the hard one. Selfish ambition isn't always the obvious bad stuff. It can be doing genuinely good things for self-promoting reasons. Helping at church to be seen. Working hard to be admired. Same actions, different motive.
And conceit isn't loud. It's the quiet voice that ranks you above other people without you noticing.
'Count others more significant than yourselves.' Notice it's not 'pretend you're worthless.' It's 'put others up.' Treat the people around you as more important than your own preferences for the next hour.
