Isaiah 53 is one of the most stunning chapters in the Old Testament — written seven hundred years before Jesus was born. It describes a 'suffering servant' who would be pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities.
And in the middle of it: 'Upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.'
Notice the trade. The wound was his. The healing is ours. The punishment was his. The peace is ours.
That's the heart of the gospel in one verse, written centuries early. Jesus didn't invent the idea of the cross — Isaiah saw it coming. And when it happened, every line of this chapter came true.
