Job is still on the ash heap, scraping his sores with broken pottery. His friends are blaming him for his own suffering. He has no answers, no relief, no hope of recovery.
And in the middle of all of it, he says: 'I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God.'
A 'redeemer' in the Old Testament was a near relative who paid off your debts, bought your freedom, fought for your honor. Job is saying: I have one of those. He's alive. And one day I'll see him.
That's faith without an answer. It's holding on to who God is when nothing else makes sense.
