God tells Aaron to bless the people with these words: 'The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.'

Notice the priests aren't the source. They're the messengers. The blessing is God's, and God is putting his name on his people.

And notice the movement. From general — 'bless and keep.' To personal — 'shine on you.' To intimate — 'lift his face on you.' Closer, closer, closer.
