Ephesians 2:8 — 'For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.' This is the clearest verse in the Bible about how salvation works.

By grace — that's the source. God's unearned favor toward people who don't deserve it. Through faith — that's the means. Not works, not rituals, not heritage. Faith.

And then Paul adds the clarifier: 'And this is not your own doing.' Not even your faith is a work you produced. It's the hand that receives the gift. The gift itself is grace.

The purpose? 'So that no one may boast.' Grace removes every hierarchy. No one can say 'I'm more saved because I tried harder.' It's all gift. That's the point.
