Psalm 1:1-2 — 'Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord.'

Blessed in the Bible means deeply well — flourishing, rooted, alive. It's bigger than happy and longer-lasting.

Notice the progression away from blessing. Walking with bad counsel. Then standing in the way of sinners. Then sitting with scoffers. Drift becomes residence.

But the engine of the blessed life is positive. Delight in God's word. Not duty. Not grim discipline. Actually loving what God says.

Meditation in the Bible isn't emptying the mind. It's chewing — turning a verse over and over until it releases its flavor. That's how delight grows.
