1 John 1:9 — 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.'

Confession is just agreeing with God. Naming the thing he names. It doesn't earn forgiveness. It opens you to receive the forgiveness already secured at the cross.

He is faithful — meaning he keeps his word. Promising forgiveness and then granting it isn't a maybe. It's a contract.

He is also just. That word matters. God doesn't sweep sin under the rug. Jesus paid for it. So forgiving you isn't soft on sin. It's honoring what the cross already did.

And then a bonus — cleansing. Not just legal forgiveness but actual washing. The stain comes off. You walk away clean.
