1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 — 'Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.' Three commands. One sentence. And Paul says this is God's will for you.
'Rejoice always.' Not sometimes. Not when things go well. Always. This isn't a command to feel happy. It's a command to choose joy — to anchor your celebration in something bigger than your circumstances.
'Pray without ceasing.' Not nonstop church services. A continuous conversation. Talking to God while you drive. While you work. While you wait. Prayer as a way of being aware of God, not just a thing on your to-do list.
'Give thanks in all circumstances.' Not for all circumstances. In them. You don't thank God for cancer. You thank God in the middle of it. You find what you can be grateful for, and you voice it.
And the capstone: 'this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.' Not a hidden career plan. Not a secret spouse choice. This. Rejoice. Pray. Give thanks. That's the will of God for your life.
