John 14:6 — 'Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."' This is Jesus answering Thomas, who asked: 'Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?'
Thomas wants directions. Jesus says: I am the directions. I'm not a signpost pointing to the way. I am the way. You don't follow a path to get to me. You follow me.
'The truth' means reality as God sees it. Jesus doesn't just tell the truth. He embodies it. He is the truth about God, about humanity, about salvation, about life. If you want to know what's real, look at him.
'The life' means the real life — the eternal, abundant, fully human life that God intended. Jesus doesn't just give advice about life. He is life. He creates it. He sustains it. He restores it.
'No one comes to the Father except through me.' That's the exclusive claim. Not 'I'm one of many ways.' Not 'all paths lead to the same place.' Jesus says: I am the access point. I'm the door. I'm the bridge. No one gets to the Father without going through the Son.
