John 4:24 — 'God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.' This is Jesus talking to a Samaritan woman at a well. She asks a religious question: where is the right place to worship? Jerusalem or the Samaritan mountain?

Jesus says: neither. Or both. Because true worship isn't about location. 'The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.' That's the shift.

'In spirit' means from the inside. Heart-level. Sincere. Not just going through motions. Not just showing up at the right building. But engaging God with your whole inner life. Desire, attention, honesty, love.

'In truth' means according to reality. Not according to tradition, preference, or emotion. But according to who God actually is. Truthful worship responds to the real God, not the God we imagine or prefer.

Together, spirit and truth are the two requirements. Internal engagement plus external accuracy. Passion plus truth. That's what God is seeking. Not perfect performance. Not perfect doctrine. But people who come to him with open hearts and accurate understanding.
