Mark 1:15 — 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.' This is Jesus' first recorded message. Not a philosophical system. Not a self-help program. A declaration and an invitation.
'The time is fulfilled.' Not 'the time is coming.' Not 'get ready.' Fulfilled. The waiting is over. The promises are arriving. The calendar God set in motion has reached the appointed hour.
'The kingdom of God is at hand.' At hand means close enough to touch. It's not distant. It's not only future. It's breaking in now. Through Jesus. Through his words, his healings, his presence. The kingdom is here.
'Repent' is the response. And it means more than feeling bad. It means turning. Changing direction. Leaving one way of life and embracing another. It's active, not passive.
'Believe in the gospel.' Believe means trust, commit, stake your life on it. And the gospel is the good news that God's kingdom has arrived in Jesus. That's the whole message. Time fulfilled. Kingdom near. Turn. Trust.
