Matthew 6:33 sits in the middle of Jesus' teaching about worry: 'Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.'

'Seek first' is more than sequence. It's priority. What gets your first attention, your first energy, your first allegiance? Jesus says: the kingdom.

The kingdom of God is the realm where God reigns. To seek it first is to ask, in every decision: how does God want this part of my life ordered?

'And his righteousness' — right-ness. Living in alignment with who God is.

'All these things will be added to you.' The things Jesus was just talking about — food, drink, clothing, the daily worries. He doesn't dismiss them. He just reorders them. Put the kingdom first, and the daily things come along behind, in their proper place.
