Read along.

At the last supper, Thomas asked Jesus a practical question: 'Lord, we don't know where you're going. How can we know the way?' Jesus answered with one of his great I-am statements.

'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'

Thomas asked for directions. Jesus offered himself. He didn't say 'here's a map.' He said 'I am the map. I am the road. I am the destination too.'

Way, truth, and life come bundled. The road you walk on is the same person who tells you the truth about reality and gives you life along the way. You don't pick and choose.

And the second sentence — 'No one comes to the Father except through me' — sounds exclusive, but read it the other way. There is a way. There is a door. And it's been thrown open to anyone willing to walk through.
