2 Corinthians 5:17 is a bombshell: 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.'

This isn't self-improvement. Paul isn't saying, 'Try harder and you'll be a better version of yourself.' He's saying the person you were before Christ is gone. A new creation has taken its place.

'The old has passed away.' Not 'is passing away.' Has passed. It's a completed transaction. God doesn't renovate the old you. He makes a new you.

'Behold, the new has come.' The word 'behold' is an invitation to look. To recognize. This is who you are now, whether you feel like it or not. The new creation is a fact, secured by Christ.

And the result of this newness is reconciliation. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself. The new creation isn't just personal; it's cosmic. Your changed life is part of God's plan to heal everything.
