1 John 4:8: 'Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.'
'God is love.' Three words. The simplest sentence about the deepest reality.
Notice it's not 'God loves' — true as that is. It's 'God is love.' Love is his nature, not just his activity.
This means love isn't a quality God could lose without ceasing to be God. Take love away and you don't have God anymore.
And John makes a hard claim: if love is absent from your life, your claim to know God is suspect. Knowing him changes you. The proof is love.
