Ecclesiastes 12:13: 'The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.'
After twelve chapters exploring pleasure, work, wisdom, power, and finding all of it ultimately empty, the teacher gives his conclusion.
'Fear God.' Not be terrified of him — stand in reverent awe of his weightiness. Take him seriously as God.
'Keep his commandments.' Faith without obedience is hollow. Reverence shows up in how you live.
'The whole duty of man.' Life can get complicated. But the central things aren't. Reverence God. Obey him. The rest finds its place.
