Exodus 3:14: 'God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you."'
Moses asked for God's name. God answered with existence itself.
I AM — present tense, no beginning, no end.
Everything else derives its being from him. He depends on nothing.
When Jesus says 'before Abraham was, I AM,' he's claiming this name. He is God himself.
