Proverbs 16:9 — 'The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.' Two halves, both true at the same time.
Some people read this and assume planning is bad. It isn't. Proverbs is full of encouragement to plan — to count the cost, to think ahead, to consider the ant. Wisdom plans.
What the verse pushes back on is the illusion that the plan equals the outcome. You plan the way. God directs the steps. Both are happening. Neither cancels the other.
So how do you live with this? You plan as carefully as you can. You bring God into the planning. And then you hold the plan with an open hand, because God is reserving the right to redirect at any step.
That doesn't make planning pointless. It makes planning humble. You're charting a course you trust God to either confirm or correct as you go.
