1 Peter 3:15 — 'In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.'
Notice what triggers the conversation. Not your sales pitch. Someone asks. Peter assumes that people who walk with God will be visibly hopeful enough that others will eventually wonder why.
'Always be prepared' means you've thought it through. You can give a reason. You don't have to perform — just be honest about what you've found in Christ.
And then the part most people skip: 'with gentleness and respect.' Tone is half the message. Hostile evangelism contradicts the gospel it's trying to share.
Live a hopeful enough life that someone asks. Then answer simply, kindly, and truthfully. That's the whole job.
