Don't skip the first half. Submission to God comes before resistance. You don't fight the devil from neutral ground; you fight from a position of being aligned with God.
'Resist' is the verb. Not 'defeat.' Not 'engage in elaborate spiritual combat.' Just stand. Refuse. Say no.
And the promise: 'he will flee.' The devil isn't fearless. When he meets a soul anchored in God and unwilling to negotiate, he doesn't stick around.
Most spiritual warfare in your life will look like small refusals. The whisper telling you you're worthless — you refuse it. The temptation to react in anger — you refuse it. That's resistance. And it works.
