'Trust with all your heart.' Not 50% trust God, 50% trust yourself. All. That's the level of trust the verse calls for.
'Do not lean on your own understanding.' Notice it doesn't say 'don't use your understanding.' It says don't lean on it. Don't make it your foundation. Use it, but don't rest your weight on it.
'In all your ways acknowledge him.' Acknowledge means recognize, include. Not just in religious moments. In all your ways — work, money, relationships, decisions.
'And he will make your paths straight.' The promise on the other side of trust. Not necessarily a path without curves. A path you can walk without getting lost.
