'Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.'
Most people remember the second half and forget the first. The order matters.
Submit to God first. That means putting yourself under his authority — agreeing with him about what's true. Without that, your resistance is just willpower, and willpower runs out.
Then resist. Stand your ground. Say no to the lies. Refuse to give the enemy the territory he's asking for.
And the promise is real — he will flee. Not might. Will. The enemy is not your equal. When a Christian, standing under God's authority, refuses to budge, the enemy retreats. Every time.
