The people of Israel are asking what they can offer God. Bigger sacrifices? Thousands of rams? Their firstborn children?
Micah cuts through it: 'He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?'
Three things. Justice — act rightly toward other people, especially the powerless. Mercy — not just do it, love it; want to be kind. Humility — walk with God knowing you're not in charge.
Notice how compact it is. The entire law boiled down to a sentence. The temple system, the prophets, the rituals — all of it pointing here.
