Habakkuk ends his short book with one of the most defiant prayers in Scripture: 'Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.'
He walks through every category of ruin. Crops failed. Livestock gone. No backup plan. Total collapse.
Then comes the word that does all the work: yet. Yet I will rejoice.
Joy that depends on the harvest isn't joy — it's mood. Real joy is what's left when the harvest fails. Habakkuk had it. So can you.
