Proverbs 3:5-6: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.'
'All your heart' is the first hurdle. We tend to compartmentalize — God gets Sundays, the rest is mine. The proverb won't allow that.
'Do not lean on your own understanding' isn't telling you to be stupid. It's telling you that your understanding, on its own, is too small a lever for your whole life. Add it to God's. Don't make it the foundation.
And 'acknowledge him in all your ways' just means: include him. In the job decision. In the conversation. In the budget. In the relationship.
Do that, and your paths get straight — not easy, but coherent. They start going somewhere.
