On the night before Jacob has to face his brother Esau, a man wrestles with him until dawn. Jacob figures out somewhere in the night that this is no ordinary opponent.
When the man asks to be released, Jacob says, 'I will not let you go unless you bless me.'
He gets the blessing. He also gets a permanent limp. Both are gifts.
