Revelation 21:4 — 'He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.' This is the most comforting promise in the whole Bible.
'Every tear' — not just the big ones. The small disappointments. The quiet griefs. The tears you cried alone. Every single one. Wiped away by the hand of God himself.
And it's not just tears. Death. Mourning. Crying. Pain. All of it, gone. Not because life is escaped, but because life is finally complete. The former things have passed away.
This is the end of the story. Not a tragedy. A restoration. Everything sad comes untrue. And the one who makes it happen is the same one who sits on the throne. He has the authority. And he has the love. That's the promise that gets us through everything before it.
