John 1:1 — 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' This is the most theologically packed sentence in the Bible.
'The Word' — logos in Greek. The perfect communication of God. The full expression of who God is, wrapped in a person. That's who Jesus is.
'Was with God' — distinct. 'Was God' — one. John isn't being sloppy. He's saying Jesus is both distinct from the Father and fully divine. That's the mystery of the Trinity in one sentence.
'In the beginning' — before creation. Before time. The Word already was. Which means Jesus is not a created being. He's eternal. He's the one through whom everything was made. That's who we're dealing with.
