Romans 10:9 — 'If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.' This is the most compact salvation verse in the New Testament.
'Confess with your mouth' — this is public. Not a secret belief. Jesus is Lord is the earliest Christian creed, and saying it out loud put your life at risk in the Roman Empire.
'Believe in your heart' — this is the inner reality. Not just repeating words. Actually trusting that Jesus rose from the dead and that his resurrection means your sin is defeated and your future is secure.
And the result? 'You will be saved.' Not might be. Not could be. Will be. Salvation is a promise God makes to everyone who believes and confesses.
