Philippians 4:6 — 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.' This verse gets quoted to anxious people all the time. Usually it just makes them more anxious.

But Paul isn't just saying 'stop worrying.' He's giving an alternative. Don't be anxious — instead, pray. The instruction is a replacement, not a suppression.

'By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.' That last part is the key. You don't have to feel thankful for the situation. But you bring thanksgiving for who God is while you're asking for help. That shifts the whole posture.

And the result? 'The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.' Not the absence of problems. The presence of peace inside them.
