Lamentations 3:22-23 — 'The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.'
Context matters. Jeremiah wrote Lamentations after Jerusalem was destroyed. He's grieving. And in the middle of the rubble, he writes this.
'Steadfast love that never ceases.' Hesed in Hebrew — loyal, covenant love. It doesn't run out, even when life burns down.
'Mercies new every morning.' Yesterday's mercy was for yesterday. Today gets a fresh supply. You can't run out, because the manufacturer never closes.
'Great is your faithfulness.' Written in the worst circumstances of Jeremiah's life. That's when you find out if it's actually true. And it is.
