Matthew 11:29 — 'Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'
A yoke is a wooden harness for two animals pulling together. Jesus is saying — get into the harness with me. We'll pull together.
'Learn from me.' This is a discipleship verse. He's the teacher. You're the apprentice. You don't have to figure it out alone.
'I am gentle and lowly in heart.' That's how Jesus describes himself. Not harsh. Not arrogant. Gentle. Lowly. That's the kind of teacher you can trust.
And the promise: 'rest for your souls.' Not just rest for your body. Soul rest. The kind that goes all the way down. That's what Jesus offers.
