Romans 6:23 — 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.'
'Wages.' That's a paycheck. Money you earned. Sin pays you exactly what you worked for, and the paycheck is death.
But notice the contrast. 'The free gift of God.' You can't earn a gift. You can only receive it.
'Eternal life in Christ Jesus.' Not just longer life. A different kind of life. The kind of life God himself has, given to you through Jesus.
Both are available. Wages or gift. Death or life. The question isn't whether you've earned it. The question is whether you'll receive it.
