Ephesians 2:8-9 — 'For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.'
'By grace.' Grace is the source. Unearned, undeserved favor. You didn't get saved by being good enough. You got saved because God is gracious.
'Through faith.' Faith is the channel. The pipe that delivers the grace to you. You receive it by trusting Christ, not by performing.
'Not your own doing.' Even the faith is a gift. You can't claim credit for any part of it.
'So that no one may boast.' That's the point. Salvation by grace through faith means everyone arrives in heaven with the same testimony: God did it. Nothing in my hand.
