Philippians 4:6-7 — 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.'
'Anxious about anything.' That's a tall order. But notice — the verse doesn't say 'stop feeling things.' It says don't let anxiety set up camp in you.
The replacement is specific: prayer plus supplication plus thanksgiving. Talk to God. Ask for what you need. And thank him for what he's already done.
The result is peace that surpasses understanding. Not peace because the problem is solved. Peace that doesn't make sense given the circumstances. That's the gift.
And that peace guards you. Like a soldier at the gate of your heart and mind. Anxiety tries to get in, and peace says: not today.
