He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
The end of the story is God himself drying every tear.
The episode in a glance.
- 01Every tear — not most, not the big ones, every one.
- 02God himself does the wiping — personal and tender.
- 03Death, mourning, crying, pain — all gone.
- 04The former things have passed away.
Read along.
Revelation 21:4 — 'He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.'
Every tear. Not just the big ones. The small private griefs no one else saw. The disappointments that never made the headlines. Every one is counted and wiped.
And notice who does the wiping. Not an angel. Not the system. He. God himself. The Father comes close enough to touch your face.
Then the list. Death, mourning, crying, pain — gone. The things that have shaped human life since Eden are over. A new world begins.
The former things have passed away. That's the last word of the story. Whatever today's tears are about, the ending of the book is good. Let that hope hold you.
