1 Corinthians 10:13 — 'No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.'

'Common to man.' This is humbling and freeing at the same time. Your temptation isn't unique. You're not the first person to face this. You're not the worst. The shape might be personal, but the category is human.

'God is faithful.' Not 'you are strong.' Not 'you can handle it.' God is faithful. He is the one who sets the limit. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. That means if you're in it, you can endure it.

'With the temptation he will also provide the way of escape.' Not after. With. The door out is built into the room. The escape route is present at the same moment the temptation arrives. You just have to take it.

And the goal isn't just escape. It's endurance. 'That you may be able to endure it.' God doesn't always remove the pressure. But he always provides what you need to stand under it. That's the promise.
