Numbers 6:24-26 — 'The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.' This is the Aaronic blessing, still used in churches and synagogues today.

God instructed Aaron and his sons to speak this over the people. It's not a prayer. It's a declaration. The priests are announcing what God will do. That makes it a promise, not a wish.

'Bless' in Hebrew means to add to, to increase, to empower. God isn't just saying nice things about you. He's adding strength, favor, and capacity to your life. 'Keep' means to guard, to watch over, to protect. He's surrounding you.

'Make his face shine' is an ancient image of favor. When a king's face shines on you, you're in his good graces. When God shines his face on you, he's pleased, present, and attentive. 'Give you peace' — the Hebrew word is shalom. Wholeness. Completeness. Nothing missing, nothing broken.

That's the full package. Strength, protection, favor, and peace. And it's spoken as a certainty, not a possibility. The Lord bless you. Not 'may he.' He does.
