Matthew 5:16 — 'Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.'
Light is meant to be seen. The previous verses said don't put a lamp under a basket. Faith was never meant to be private.
'Good works.' Not vague spirituality. Concrete actions — kindness shown, integrity kept, the poor cared for, the truth told. Those are what make the light visible.
But notice the goal. 'That they may see your good works and give glory to your Father.' Not so they admire you. So they look up.
That's the test of whether your light is shining the right way. When people see it, do they end up impressed with you, or do they end up curious about the Father you keep pointing toward?
