Zechariah 9:9: 'Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey.'
Zechariah, writing 500 years before Jesus, describes the Messiah's arrival in stunning detail.
The king comes humble, on a donkey. Not on a war horse. Not in a chariot. Riding a humble animal.
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, this is the prophecy he was fulfilling. The crowd knew it. That's why they shouted Hosanna.
'Righteous and having salvation.' Both at once. He has the right to rule and the power to save. Your king is still that king.
