Jesus has just been talking about worry — about food, clothes, the basics of life. He says: stop chasing those things first.
'Seek first the kingdom of God.' Make God's rule and God's priorities your top concern. Let his agenda set yours.
'And his righteousness' — pursue the right way to live, the kind of life that pleases him.
'All these things will be added to you.' The basic needs you were anxious about? Your Father knows. Chase him first, and what you need follows.
