Matthew 11:28-30: 'Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'
'Come to me.' Not to a program. Not to a doctrine. To a person.
'All who labor and are heavy laden.' He's not picky about who qualifies. Exhausted? Burdened? You're invited.
'I will give you rest.' Not 'help you find it.' Give it. Rest is the gift.
Then comes the gentle invitation to walk with him in a different way: 'I am gentle and lowly in heart.' Whatever you imagined Jesus to be, his self-description corrects you. Gentle. Lowly. Easy yoke. Light burden.
