'The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.'
Peter is writing to people who are losing heart. Jesus promised to come back, and it's been decades. Some are mocking. Many are tired of waiting.
Peter reframes it. What feels like slowness is patience. God isn't dragging his feet. He's holding the door open.
Why? Because every day that passes is another day someone else can come to him. The time we resent is the time somebody else needs to find their way home.
That changes how we wait. Instead of being impatient with God, we become grateful — because if he'd acted on our timeline, we might have missed it ourselves.
