Elijah just had the biggest victory of his life — fire from heaven on Mount Carmel. Then Queen Jezebel threatens him, and he collapses. He runs into the wilderness and asks God to let him die.
God meets him on a mountain. First comes a great wind — but God isn't in the wind. Then an earthquake — not there either. Then a fire — no. Then a low whisper. A still, small voice. That's where God was.
Elijah expected God in the spectacular. He got God in the quiet.
If you're exhausted, that's worth sitting with. God isn't necessarily where the volume is. Sometimes the way to hear him is to turn everything else down.
