Moses is about to die. The Israelites are about to cross into the promised land without him. He gathers them and says: 'Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.'
Notice where the courage comes from. Not from sizing up the enemy and deciding they're beatable. From the fact that God is going with them.
That promise — 'he will never leave you nor forsake you' — gets quoted again in the New Testament book of Hebrews. It outlives Moses, outlives Israel, lands on us.
Courage in the Bible is rarely about feeling brave. It's about knowing who's standing next to you when you'd rather run.
