2 Timothy 1:7 — 'God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.' This is one of the most identity-shaping verses for anyone who struggles with anxiety.
Fear isn't your factory setting. It's not how God made you. It's a foreign invader. The spirit you actually received — the one that lives in you if you're in Christ — is power, love, and self-control.
Power means you have what you need to face what comes. Love means you're connected to God and others in a way that makes you brave. Self-control means you can choose your response instead of being hijacked by fear.
You don't need to get these things. You already have them. The question is whether you're living out of the fear that isn't from God, or the power, love, and self-control that is.
