Isaiah 26:3 — 'You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.'

'Perfect peace' in Hebrew is 'shalom shalom' — peace, peace. Doubled. As if to say, the maximum dose.

The condition: a mind stayed on God. 'Stayed' means fixed, anchored, leaning. Your thoughts keep returning to him.

'Because he trusts in you.' Trust is the underlying posture. You can't keep your mind on someone you don't trust. Trust is what holds it there.

Notice what peace isn't. It isn't the absence of trouble. It's the presence of trust. The trouble can be present and the peace can be present at the same time.
