Psalm 119:105 — 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.'
Notice the imagery. A lamp to the feet. In the ancient world, a small oil lamp lit maybe one step ahead. Just enough to see where to put your foot next.
God's word usually works the same way. You want a floodlight on the next ten years. He gives you a lamp on the next step.
'A light to my path.' As you walk, the light moves with you. You don't get the whole picture. You get the next move.
That's enough. Take the step. The light goes with you. And before you know it, you've walked a long way.
